Discussion
Cindy Martinez – watchdog over the Washoe County Commission. At yesterday’s meeting, they put items 8-21 on the “consent agenda,” which means they can pass without discussion. And they did. With one swell foop, in an instant, all items 8 through 21 were passed via a bloc vote. The problem is, big spending was approved in those items without discussion, without knowledge of a competitive bid, without budget considerations. Much of that money was from COVID relief money, which will eventually dry up and then how will they fund anything more with the items that were approved? They will have to raise taxes. The Commission is out of control and spends like drunken sailors, except that sailors use their own money.
We need more people to show up, stand up and speak up! They need to know we are watching and not happy. Even if you don’t wish to speak up, just go to the microphone and say, “I agree with everything the person before me just said.”
The Board of County Commissioners meets Tuesdays, 10:00am. June 29, July 13, 20, Aug 17, 24, Sept 14, 21, 28, Oct 12, 19, 26, Nov 9, 16, Dec 14.
Chairman Bob Lucey, blucey@washoecounty.us
Vice-Chairman Vaughn Hartung, vhartung@washoecounty.us
Commissioner Alexis Hill, ahill@washoecounty.us
Commissioner Jeanne Herman, jherman@washoecounty.us

Cindy shared the outrageous story about County Assessor Mike Clark. A packet entitled “Reno Whistledown” was delivered to him to his desk. It contained a 2-page typed ‘cover sheet’ with allegations about certain County officials. The subsequent 30+ pages were court documents, depositions, emails and proof positive of the allegations stated on the first 2 pages. Mike thought it important enough (and factual enough) to share and printed 162 copies of the ‘dossier’ and mailed via snail mail (USPS), at his own expense, to various County and State officials. En route to those recipients, the envelopes were intercepted by Chairman Bob Lucey, Vice Chairman Vaughn Hartung, Sheriff Darin Balaam, a deputy and County Manager Eric Brown, apparently without a warrant or reasonable cause to stop it. Then Assessor Mike Clark was delivered a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO), perp-walked out of his office and ordered not to be within 100 yards of any County offices until after a hearing to decide his fate. The hearing originally scheduled for June 10 was postponed to June 30.
Sandra Linares – Update on Mike Clark. She has talked to him and he is fine, has 2 attorneys and is gagged from talking about anything. He is in good spirits, working from home. By the way, Mike Clark is running for Chairman Bob Lucey’s seat on the County Commission.
Kenji Otto – Special Health Dept meeting tomorrow, Thursday, June 24, 10:00am at the Commission Chambers, 1001 E. 9th St, Bldg A. Ask them the questions we’ve been asking the County Commission, such as “Why is our County still under an ’emergency declaration’?” Could it be that funds are still flowing from the Feds to COVID relief $$. Once they remove that status of ’emergency’, then the spigot shuts off that flow of $$. “Why is Kevin Dick (appointed head of Health Dept) making decisions about our County’s emergency status when he was never elected by the people and his decisions affect all of us every day, all day.
Lynn Chapman – reminded us of the “virtual fence” on the southern border from 2009. Seventeen months later, the project (with 53 miles completed) was deemed a failure due to unreliable monitoring and abandoned. That cost us $1B.
Dr. Fred Simon – candidate for Governor. Fred is a trauma doctor and was with the San Diego Trauma Center. He’s been an expert witness in 35 trials, has been with JCs, Big Brothers, has owned a car dealership and a small businessman who still owns a restaurant, Christopher’s Ristorante in Minden. He has experience in healthcare, in the legal world and in business. He believes education is key to a community. 65% of employees today are teens. Educated kids don’t get in trouble. It is time to be assertive. The people should rule. We need to be cost efficient and should cut bureaucracy 10% per year. The Governor’s main job is to protect the State and the people of the state. He endangered the people of NV when he ordered  Hydroxychloroquine not be prescribed unless you were in the hospital. How many died as a result of that decision? He should be tried for practicing medicine without a license. Learn much more about this exciting candidate at his website, www.simonforgovnv.com.
Nicholas St Jon – Washoe Patriots has a 3-pronged approach…
1) 12-17 year old kids were urged to get the vax last week. Joey Gilbert has been contacted, but needs plaintiffs to testify. Do you know anyone with kids who were urged to get vaxed? Do you know any kids who are fearful they might be forced to get vaxed? Call Joey Gilbert’s office ASAP. Without plaintiffs, there is no lawsuit.
2) A fellow who has his own server is working on developing livestream, chat and communication for his Precinct Strategy. He talked about the importance of getting on the Precinct Committee. Not sure what is meant by that, but our Central Committee has openings, based on how many registered Republicans are in your precinct. Click HERE for a Central Committee application. Click HERE for a Central Committee policy sheet explaining how to get on the Central Committee. You can also call Phyllis Westrup at the GOP office, 775-827-1900, give her your address and she can determine if there are openings in your precinct.
3) Affidavits for Maladministration to be notarized and delivered to the Governor, the Secretary of State and other officials for the purpose of demanding a forensic audit of the 2020 election. He wants to have signing parties and says these Affidavits put the power back with citizens. He want to form Citizen Grand Juries. Go to www.washoepatriots.com to sign up.
Bruce Parks – was kicked out of Washoe County School District meeting yesterday, 6/22. Regardless what the Board is telling its constituents, they are teaching Critical Race Theory (CRT) in schools right now! Show up, stand up, speak up.
John Eppolito – was also removed from the Washoe County School District meeting yesterday, 6/22. He’s been going to Board meetings for 12 years and it’s never been this bad. Both Superintendent Kristin McNeil and Board President Angie Taylor want their agenda and are focusing all their energies on that, when they should be focusing on improving education. Our arguments don’t need to be far right. We should seek middle of the road arguments and find Moms who are in the middle. If these Moms knew what is going on in the schools, they wouldn’t like it. John has regular updates on his Facebook page. If you want to be added to John’s distribution list, let him know.  john@jtahoe.com.
Sent in to me after the meeting by Victoria Myer are two great videos about Critical Race Theory (CRT).  https://youtu.be/cfmpnGV0IGc (17:59) and features Christopher F. Rufo, who wrote the Hillsdale College “Imprimis” article I’ve been touting for several meetings now. (https://imprimis.hillsdale.edu/critical-race-theory-fight/). This other video is over 90 minutes, but really worthwhile. https://youtu.be/Y0KmUYvk6EU (1:30:23).
Next Meeting – Wednesday, July 14, 2021, 11:00 for food, 11:30-1:00pm meeting. King Buffet, 3650 Kietzke. $17.50 (new price).
