Discussion
CTL News broadcast – We saw a video of the protests in Brazil against the election of Lula over Bolsonaro. Brazil is only one of many countries protesting high prices, no jobs and election results. According to the Carnegie Endowment Organization, which tracks protests, there are over 400 significant anti-government protests worldwide, involving 132 countries, with 23% lasting more than 3 months. The active protests, as of 12/6/22 are in Argentina (since 4/22), China (since 11/22), France (since 10/22), Germany (since 9/22), Brazil (since 10/22), Haiti (since 7/22), Hungary (since 10/22), Iran (since 9/22), Italy (since 6/22), Lebanon (since 10/19), Moldova (since 6/22), Netherlands (since 6/22), Pakistan (since 6/22), South Korea (since 11/22), Spain (since 11/22), Sri Lanka (since 3/22), Sudan (since 6/20), Tunisia (since 10/22), UK (since 4/22).
www.carnegieendowment.org/publications/interactive/protest-tracker.
We also heard from an election worker in Maricopa County, AZ and from Kari Lake, gubernatorial candidate in AZ. We saw a news segment from White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre telling us Biden has been to the border. Really?
There was a 5-min segment from Gene Bailey, host of Flashpoint (online news podcast – www.flashpoint.govictory.com) discussing the “battle for the soul of America.” And for a little levity, we watched a little song called “Jailerman, An American Sea Shanty”.
Gary Schmidt – wanted us to know that Lombardo appointed Ben Kieckhefer as his Chief of Staff. Ben is part of the Reid Machine via the McDonald Carano law firm and that’s who will be running our state. Kieckhefer is being groomed to take Amodei’s seat down the road. But all politics is local and we have 2 solid conservatives now in both the County Commission and the School Board.
Gary also remembered those who have gone before us and are no longer with us. He made mention of Jim Uprichard, Rick Fineberg, Barry Bouchard, Roxanne Cupples, John Eberhart (Libertarian), Garth Elliott, Vicky Maltman, Bill Maltman, David Cox, Ralph McMullen, Don Kaplan and of course, all those who perished 81 years ago today in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
Nicôl Herris – Election results are not what we wanted, but as long as we fight amongst ourselves, that will be the result we get. Small donations count. Give even if you don’t agree with the WCRP Chair. If we don’t unite and drive in the same direction, we cannot win. Douglas County flipped 3 School Bd seats. We need to do a better job of ballot harvesting (going to Assisted Living, rest home facilities). Rs didn’t show up, despite our efforts to Get Out The Vote (GOTV). We must do numbers crunching and determine where to put our fundraising $$.
Republican women of Reno (RWR)
- Jan 12, Mark Vlashin, Deputy Sec’y of State, will speak and there will be a mini-workshop following.
- Feb 9, speakers (Tammy Pyfer and a Kennedy-Shriver) will be using Reno/RWR as a test field for their “dignity index”.
- Mar 9, FAIR (Federation for American Immigration Reform (moved from this month). NV is the top of the nation in sex trafficking. FAIR will discuss the effects illegal immigration has had on our state.
- Republican Women of Northern NV PAC is seeking cash donations with an eye to endorsing candidates.
Roger Edwards – Dec 20 is the next Republican Men’s Club (RMC) meeting, right here at King Buffet. The program will discuss the NV Air National Guard Firefighting team. Doors open 11:00am, $21 for full buffet, beverage, tax & gratuity.
Bruce Foster – wanted to know if anyone knew anyone personally who had suffered ill effects from the jab or the booster(s). We should make a much bigger splash of this with letters to the Editor, talk shows, Republican clubs, the Health Dept. We should mark when the Health Dept meets and go make some noise.
Nicholas St Jon – his group, Washoe Patriots, has created an alternative medicine group with many doses in stock of Ivermectin, Hydrochloroquine, Azithromycin, D3, Zinc and is willingly sharing. If you know someone suffering some effects of the jab or boosters, have them go to www.washoepatriots.com/alt1 and get help that can maybe reverse some of the negative effects.
Next Meeting – Wednesday, January 11, same time, same place.
Wishing everyone a joy-filled Christmas and New Year of love, laughter and good health.
