ANNOUNCEMENTS

Primary early voting begins Jan 27 and will run through Feb 2 and you will get your mail-in ballot in the mail soon if you haven’t already received it. No candidates will be on both ballots. Nikki Haley, Tim Scott and Mike Pence (I thought Pence had dropped out), and others will be on the Primary ballot. Trump, Vivek Ramaswamy, DiSantos others will be on the caucus ballot.

The caucus is one day and one day only, one time and one time only. You must make sure you are registered to vote Republican and find out where your caucus/precinct meeting is being held.

1) Feb 8 Caucus information here.  Elections 2024 – Washoe County Republican Party (washoegop.org)

  1. The Caucus is held Thursday, Feb 8, 5:00pm at various schools.
  2. Scroll down to the bottom 3/4 of the page at the www.washoegop.orgwebsite, find a red tab “FIND MY PRECINCT” and “LOCATIONS”.
  3. FIND MY PRECINCT will take you to the County Registrar’s office. Once you see you are registered correctly, you go back to the www.washoegop.orgwebsite and click on LOCATIONS. If you are not registered correctly, you can fix it at the Registrar’s office, https://www.washoecounty.gov/voters/.
  4. The map looks unwieldy, but you can enlarge. When you find near where you live, click on the colored block and the school location will pop up. All the precincts listed there are 6-digits – the 4 for your precinct followed by double zeros. So if my precinct is 5555, it would show on the precinct map as 555500. Consider calling the site coordinator for that school and asking if he/she needs help that evening.
  5. Early Primary voting is only 1 week this time. January 27 – February 2. Election Day for the Primary is Feb 6.

DISCUSSION

Candidates on the Primary ballot do not care about you or our State Constitution, which provides for the Caucus, not a Primary. The Primary is illegal, fabricated by the Democrat-controlled Legislature in the last session. In order to change the Constitution so a Primary for the Presidential preference is legal, it would take two (2) consecutive Legislative sessions approving same and a public vote at the ballot box approving same. Approximately a 5 year process, not a 6-month process. This Primary is costing the taxpayers some serious $$; whereas the Caucus is paid for by the 2 major political parties.

At the Caucus, delegates and alternates to the County Convention will be elected. The County Convention will be held all day (beginning 7:30am till it ends) March 9 @ Boomtown. The Caucus will also nominate the new members of the Central Committee to serve a 4-year term.

At the County Convention, delegates and alternates to the State Convention will be elected. At the State Convention, delegates and alternates will be elected to the National Convention in Milwaukee. But none of this happens without first being at the Caucus.

As Washoe County Republicans, if you wish to expand your influence and your voice, join the Central Committee, then run for and serve as a delegate to the County and State Conventions.

At the Central Committee meeting this past Monday evening, a Resolution was passed to expel County Commissioner Clara Andriola from the Republican Party. Andriola was appointed by Governor Lombardo to fill the remaining portion of an open seat vacated by Vaughn Hartung. She is up for election in the Primary in June and perhaps the General election in November. Read the Nevada Globe for “in print” details, https://thenevadaglobe.com/articles/washoe-county-gop-expels-lombardo-appointed-commissioner-from-party/

Commissioner Mike Clark – Commissioner Jeanne Herman is the most senior commissioner and the most senior in the vast majority of the County government (Administrator, Registrar of Voters, Clerk and many others). Jeanne Herman has more institutional knowledge than anyone else in her realm of County government. She ran to be the new Chair, but instead of making her the new Chair, Andriola voted with the Dems to select someone else, citing Herman’s inadequate experience.

Paul D. White – School Board Update. Worse than it’s ever been.

–  Greenbrae Elementary – gun found on playground.

–  SHARE program is being taught again; keep kids home on SHARE days. Promiscuity is a given, just teach them how to do it.

–  New Superintendent is Kristin McNeil – she was the prior bad Superintendent who was forced to resign. We’ve had a steady stream of those. When Enfield left, she had 8 Ass’t Superintendents on her staff. Why not choose one of them?

– -WCSD committed $100K to a search for a new superintendent. The previous company who found Enfield had in their contract that if Enfield left in less than 2 yrs (she did), they would conduct another search for free. WCSD didn’t use that.

–  Jeff Church has filed an ethics complaint against Rodriguez.

–  No WCSD Trustees are allowed to visit/inspect schools without prior appointment or arrangements.

–  Lunchtime thievery at local supermarkets from nearby high schools is still going on.

– School Bd is being sued all over the place, more than ever. They are not fighting anything and just settling, using the $1.5 reserve fund.

– Middle school teacher was beaten up by a student and told by the Principal to study up on ways to mitigate that kind of student behavior.

– Homeless man in Boise, ID got arrested, but there were no sheltered beds to hold him, so he was let go. As a result, we spent $17M on a sheltered facility with beds that is largely empty because PD isn’t arresting them.

Paul’s group is Education Crusade. Go to www.educationcrusade.org to get on a list for updates on the schools and on the homeless.

Marsha Berkbigler – running for County Commission District 1, which is now held by Alexis Hill. She will need help and passed out literature.

Tracey Hilton-Thomas – Vice-Chair of the Washoe County Republican Party. Clarified how the WCR decisions are all voted on at the Central Committee and at the State level, decisions are made by the body at the State Central Committee. The Resolution regarding Andriola didn’t just happen overnight. It had been worked on by a committee selected for this purpose since last summer.

On the Secretary of State website, just in the last few days, people are getting ‘INELIGIBLE TO VOTE” messages when they enter their names. If you get that status, please call the County Registrar of Voters, 775-328-3670. Look for

Tracey4washoe on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/Tracey4Washoe/) to get the QR code to get to the Sec’y of State.

Chief Info Officer (CIO) for the County lives in the Bay area, not even a resident of Washoe County. Thanks to Mike Clark for bringing this issue to the forefront.

Tracey is a candidate for County Commission District 4. She’ll be at the Spanish Springs Library every Sunday at 2pm, from now until the end of March. Come meet her, talk to her, see what she’s all about.

Denise Myer – running for City Council Ward 3 – another appointee, Mariluz Garcia, is in place now. Each vote is for every Reno resident, not just your ward. Every City Council vote affects every Reno resident.

Nicholas St Jon – Washoe Patriots – made signs to take to polling place to show caucus sites.

There is a major discrepancy at the WC voter website, erroneously stating that the Caucus has been cancelled this year in favor of the Primary. Nicholas corrected them that now there is a Republican Caucus.

Debbie Hudgens – Thurs, Feb 8 – RWR Dr Fred Simon at Atlantis. Register at www.rwreno.org
