Discussion
Canine Shooting in south Reno – David Blaylock, AJ Blaylock and Nick Sharpe presented the story about two dogs, one owned by David Blaylock and one by Nick Sharpe, who were shot about a month ago by a neighbor who has stated he doesn’t like dogs. Both dogs were benign, never-before-aggressive, but had dug under their yard fence and got into the yard of a neighbor, who placed a call to PD stating that there were unknown dogs in his yard. PD said they would refer it to Animal Control. Thirty minutes later the call to Animal Control from the neighbor stated he shot the dogs.
There was rumored to be a video showing the dogs being aggressive and the neighbor called it self-defense. There was no video.
David’s dog, Cleo, was a sweet mix, maybe 30 pounds, and she was shot in the face and had to be put down. Nick’s dog suffered a 9mm bullet that went about 14” through the torso and was stopped by a harness strap, just under the skin on the other side of its body, miraculously missing any major arteries or organs. Poor babies.
Action Alert!!! These 3 young men came today to urge us to call or write to City Attorney Karl Hall, who has said he will not prosecute the neighbor. Here are just some of the grounds for starting a case on the neighbor:
- Discharging a firearm in a City Ward;
- Disturbing the peace in a neighborhood (gunshot noise + dogs yelping in pain after having been shot);
- Federal law prohibits using a firearm within 1000 ft of a school zone;
- NRS 574.100 makes the shooting a Class D felony.
To say nothing of it’s being a horrible, uncitizen-like thing to do.
Reference the Reno Police Dept (RPD) Case #23-6970 and incorporate one or two of the above arguments into your letter. Urge City Attorney Hall to re-open the case and evaluate all sides of it. Please use your own words, don’t just copy mine.

County Commission Update – Roger Edwards was at the meeting yesterday and was happy that the suspension of the monthly artificial recharge bills in Golden Valley was finally passed. $22+ every month for no good reason and Roger has been pushing that for 7 years!
New Commissioner Clara Andriola hasn’t been there long enough to truly establish her record and complaining to the Governor who appointed her will likely do nothing.
Why did Andriola fly to DC with the other Commissioners and Clark and Herman did not go? We’ve asked that question, but with no answer as yet. Likely Herman and Clark simply did not want to go.
Library Board Meeting – Roger Edwards was thrown out before the meeting started. He just asked if there was supposed to be a Pledge of Allegiance on the agenda and the Chair jumped all over him in a loud voice and accused him of “starting this all over again.” He was removed from the meeting before it even started.
Target – facing $1B in lost revenue nationwide this year (mostly due to shop-lifting). Employees are told to sort of “keep track” of what goes out the door and by whom and once the amount exceeds $1199, that person will be stopped. Additionally, Target’s marketing of gay pride products and clothing (and even a check-out lane, I’m told) is over the top. Many of us stopped shopping there when they were the first national chain to put in co-ed bathrooms, 6 or so years ago. Others of us stopped going there when they dissed the military after Desert Storm.
Gary Duarte – The Biden Administration open border policy is unconstitutional and there should be 10,000 tweets on Twitter and on F/B so stating. Start writing and tweeting!
School Board Update – WCSD Trustee Colleen Westlake is holding a TownHall meeting Thursday, May 25, 5:00pm at the Reno Town Mall. A TownHall at the Town Mall. This is a personal event, not a WCSD sanctioned one. Please go and support her, if you can.
Redistricting – This is a City of Reno issue and only concerns Reno City Council and the boundaries for their City Wards. This is NOT the Legislature (which was redistricted in 2021 and won’t be changed again until 2031). This is NOT the County Commission districts. This is NOT the School Board districts. I don’t know what can be done about it; it’s the City’s issue, good or bad. You can write the Council and the Mayor, but i doubt it will have any effect.
Legislative Update:
1) Gov Lombardo vetoed 3 anti-gun bills:
AB354 – prohibit firearms within 100 ft of polling place.
AB355 – prohibit anyone younger than 21 yrs old from owning or using a semiautomatic rifle or shotgun.
SB171 – made the right to keep or bear arms illegal over a perceived, very subjective hate crime.
Furthermore, Gov has several very good bills on education and crime that the Legislature has been slow-walking and he’s made it known that if his bills are not passed, he will not sign the budget!
Other bills to know about:
AB65 – lowers mandatory school age from 7 to 6. Some students (especially boys) are not ready at 6.
AB226 – mandatory college tuition for illegals.
AB319 – universal free breakfast and lunch for all children in schools, paid for by taxpayers (approx $100M).
AB386 – creates a licensing board for midwifery practice. Only 2 midwives in the state support this; all others do not. It will definitely hamper midwifery practice in NV.
SB163 – mandates insurance and Medicaid (taxpayer funded) for all gender dysphoria and sex change surgery.
SB302 – makes NV a sanctuary state for hack doctors who have botched gender surgeries and are under disciplinary action in other states. They can come here!
SB404 – allows vote counting to begin in Early Voting.
AJR6 – National Popular Vote would do away with the Electoral College, making NV’s small population completely irrelevant. If the only criteria is popular vote, candidates will focus on big population states like CA and NY and we’d never see candidates in NV. No one who truly loves NV would support this measure and because it will amend our Constitution, it cannot be vetoed by the Gov.
Nicol Herris, President of Republican Women of Reno (RWR) – Several important announcements:
- May 30 Zoom meeting with Turning Point USA, 5:30pm. [See Coming Soon section above for details]. RWR Membership meeting,
- Thur, June 8, 11:00-1:00, Atlantis. Speaker is Erin Phillips, how to deal with government and educators trying to separate children from their parents in order to push a progressive ideology. [See Coming Soon section above for details].
- Basque Fry – June 17 – Gardnerville. RWR will be registering voters
there.
- Tammy Pyfer – coming to Reno! July 12, Paisan’s. Time and details TBD.
Northern NV Women’s Leadership Alliance is bringing her here. She talks about the “dignity index” and how to approach conversations with the other side without rancor.
Working on getting Winsome Sears (Lt Gov of Virginia) here to speak. Working on getting Charlie Kirk (Turning Point USA) here.
We need to start letting people know about these topics to help defeat the opposition at the ballot box.
Nicholas St Jon of Washoe Patriots – out of state voters at Basque Fry, who may now live here and need to re-register.
Beth Lenz talked to us earlier in the year about CBDC stuff. If implemented, they will be able to turn your $$ on and off. They can stop you from shopping (if you belong to the wrong party). It’s just a way to continue to control us.
Washoe Patriots – next meeting is June 10. Working on a location. They are studying about gold and silver and how to navigate through those shark-infested waters of the CBDC. Many citizens from many countries are also upset and protesting. Americans as a whole will not stand for this. Buy Bitcoin and be able to use that to avoid CBDC watchful eyes, as it isn’t regulated in the same way. This is a valid way to be able to purchase products and services “under the radar.” KU (South Korean-based coin) is also very safe.
Biodome – Aquaponics – water-based garden for veggies. Studying these and offering classes on growing your own fresh food. Sprouts are being cultivated and combined together for nutrition, creating a balanced meal that will grow in 3-4 days.
Item 10 at the County Commission meeting is Public Comment. Nicholas waited 5-1/2 hrs to speak 3 minutes and requested extra time, which was not granted. He talked about a report on provisional voting that was presented a while back, but never investigated and closed. The County Commission closed the report without investigation and Nicholas spoke about that.
Next Washoe Patriots meeting is Saturday, June 10. Maybe the Reno Town Mall, 9:30am.
Renee Rezentes fell and broke her arm. Please send prayerful thoughts in her direction.
Feb 6, 2024 – Nevada’s Presidential Preference Primary Election (formerly known as the Caucus) will be held, still the first in the West.
Early voting begins Jan 27 and goes until Feb 2.
The Primary will be June 11, 2024, with Early Voting May 25-June 7.

Nichelle Hull of Wake Up Washoe County! – emailed me this update, which I didn’t get until after CTL:
1) With no notice of a hearing, AB423 was amended yesterday and now mandates schools to allow transgender individuals in everything, such as bathrooms, showers, sports, overnight school trips, etc. View the bill: https://www.leg.state.nv.us/App/NELIS/REL/82nd2023/Bill/10392/Text#
Please alert your networks, parishioners etc. through your social media and other mediums that we MUST protect WCSD students from this violation of privacy and safety N O W ! Parents can consider removing their kiddos from these morally imploding schools with an equally morally bankrupt leadership (Angie Taylor in the Assembly formerly the head of our school board is now in the Education Committee of the Assembly) consisting of Susan Enfield, the Vice Chair of the School Board and Superintendent. Contact your legislators to let them know this travesty of child safety will not stand! Info below. Please consider attending a June 8th conference to cover a 3 month plan to open a Homeschool COOP in your spare space! Flyer attached. Churches work well if they are not used M-F, Commercial space is great too. Do you have a large home or large basement that could house a few kids – that can work too! View alternate open schools at https://wakeupwashoecounty.org/#School-section
Alternative Schools in Washoe County FREE Conference June 8.
We would appreciate it if you would share the attached flyer on your social media.
2) WCSD Committee Openings: Personal and career development opportunities abound in Washoe County committee openings! Please share this list in every way possible. Many family friendly and community safety minded people who will act in the interest of liberty and fairness would enjoy the chance to serve and lead our culture though committee work. A pattern of reappointing “friends of friends” into the committees of our local government is the norm in Washoe County. It’s not working too well, therefore we are opposed to the 14 proposed reappointments.
Current Committee Openings:
- Safe and Healthy Schools Commission – One (1) Emergency Services Representative with term ending June 30, 2025.
- Sexuality, Health and Responsibility Education (S.H.A.R.E.) Committee – Two (2) parent/guardian representatives with students in the Washoe County School District for terms ending June 30, 2025 and one (1) medical/nursing representative for a term ending June 30, 2024.
[Both SHARE (Sex Ed), Student Attendance (we are experiencing critical and chronic absenteeism) and Safe Schools (SHSC) are all VERY important committees.]
- Audit Committee – One (1) member of the community with a background in business, finance, auditing or the law with term ending June 30, 2025
- Group Insurance – One (1) WCSD retiree who is on the District health insurance plan
- Post-Employment Benefits (OPEB) Committee – One (1) Community member with a background in finance or economics with term expiring 12/31/2025
- Zoning Advisory Committee – One (1) At-Large Member, 1 School Administrator and 1 Educational Support Staff with terms ending June 30, 2025
- Council on Family Resource Centers – One (1) Community Representative with term expiring 6/30/2024, and 1 Community Representative with term ending June 30, 2025, 1 State or local elected official with term ending June 30, 2025
